William Avery was the first child born to Thomas and Nancy (Fulford) Avery. He was born in Ontario, Canada, and moved to Kingston, Tuscola County, Michigan, with his family in 1876. On November 26, 1886, he married Anna Freedee. They had three daughters together, Gertrude, Linnie, and Frankie. In 1920, their daughter Linnie passed away from tuberculosis, and in 1924, both Gertrude and Frankie passed from it as well. Their daughters left them with 10 grandchildren.
