"Etta and Elmer Reid took part in the opening of Oklahoma Territory known as the Sooner Rush. They traveled in a covered wagon, staked out land for a farm and worked the land for many years. Elmer was a farrier/blacksmith. Even through the Great Depression Elmer had work shoeing horses and mending broken equipment. They moved to Ardmore in 1956."
