PVT US MARINE CORPS - AFGHANISTAN
AUGUSTA - Our beloved son and brother, Jeffery D. Hodgkins, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2013, at the Togus Maine Veterans' Health Care System in Chelsea. He was born in Madrid, Spain, on May 11, 1981, to Douglas and Louise.
Jeff was a 1999 graduate of Cony High School of Augusta, where he excelled at lacrosse. After high school, he served five years in the U.S. Marine Corps. During those years he spent most of his career serving in Southeast Asia. He was decorated while serving during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. After his Marine Corps duty, he served in the Maine Army National Guard 251st Engineers for several years.

Jeff was a former member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge 964 of Augusta.

Survivors include his mother, Louise P. (McDonald) Dorr, and her husband, Kymbrid J. Dorr II, of Augusta; his father, Douglas A. Hodgkins, of United Arab Emirates; his significant other, Sarah Woodard, of Gardiner; his daughter, Nya A. Woodard, of Gardiner; sister Jamie Pare and her husband, Ryan, of Gardiner; paternal grandmother Nancy Hodgkins, of Bartlett, N.H.; maternal grandmother Selma Norton, of Sedalia, Mo.; step-grandmother Sally Morrissey, of Manchester; step-grandparents Kymbrid J. and Jeannie Dorr, of Portland; one niece, Cora R. Pare; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Committal, with military honors, will be graveside at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta. (Kennebec Journal 4/24/2013)
