Rabbit worked at American Enka from 1958 until 1995, when he retired. He was a member of Russellville Baptist Church. He served as a Hamblen County Commissioner and was an avid NASCAR (Ford) and Atlanta Braves fan.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Ragan Barbee Thomason; children, Rev. Ricky and wife, Jahala Thomason of Mountain City; Susie and husband, Marc Carter of Morristown; Cindy and husband, Denley Hines of Cleveland, TN; brother, C. D. Thomason of Russellville; grandchildren, Josh Thomason, Jonathan and wife, Shawna Thomason, Lindsay and Taylor Carter, Coleman and Sterling Hines; nieces, Sabrina Cagle and Kay and Carole Thomason; step-children, Randy, Tim and Gregory Barbee; step-grandchildren, Reagan and Jessica Barbee; special friend, Shaun Cobb and Mrs. Thomason's nephew, Terry Huff.
The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26 in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home prior to the funeral service at 7 p.m., with the Revs. Ricky Thomason and Anthony Kiersey officiating. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27 at Bethesda Cemetery in Russellville.
