Margaret was a devoted wife and mother. She was the daughter of Claude and Katie Hayden.

Margaret grew up in Farnam, NE with her brother Dennis and sister Frances. She was a school teacher in a one room school house before marrying Bud. They moved to Englewood, CO shortly after getting married and bought a house where they spent the rest of their lives together. After raising their two boys, she worked as an x-ray librarian.
