When I was a kid, I wanted to grow up to be just like Grandpa Bob. He was a very dedicated farmer, a proud veteran and an amazing grandfather. He had nicknames for everybody, including his tractors. His own nickname dated all the way back to his early childhood. When his older brother tried to say "baby", it sounded like "bobby". And it stuck with him his entire life.

During World War II, he enlisted, and served in Hawaii. After the war, he followed in his father's footsteps and took up farming. In 1948 he began a 65 year long marriage that gave him 4 children, and later, 10 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. He enjoyed simple things, like fishing, John Wayne movies, and sitting on the front porch playing with his cats, at the end of a long day in the field.

He took pride in everything he did, and there wer so many things he could do well. But being a grandfather was one of the things he did best.
