Elizabeth Martha Nichol, who was born in 1820 and died in 1892, was the daughter of John Nichol (born in 1793 and died in 1842) and Eleanor Marshall (born in 1796 and died in 1866). Elizabeth married Stephen Irwin in Butler County, Ohio on December 2, 1841. Elizabeth and Stephen had three children: Mary Crawford (1842-1903), John Nichol (1845-1905, Name see Find A Grave Memorial #6662051), and Wells Marshall (1852-1918). In 1856 the family moved to Keokuk, Iowa, where Stephen founded the Irwin-Phillips drygoods store.
