ABBOTT -- George W. Abbott, 71, 821 Sawyer Road, died at 4:48 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 1975 in. St. Anthony Hospital, after a lengthy illness. Born Dec. 24, 1903, in Manchester, Iowa, son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer E. Abbott. Lived 58 years in Rockford, coming here from Manchester Iowa. Employed as maintenance man by Gunite Foundries for a number of years, retiring serveral years ago. Veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. Member of Thomas Lowler Post No. 342, Vetertans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include: a brother, Vern Abbott, Rockford; three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Crimmins, and Mrs. Edna Mund, both of Rockford and MRs. Ruth Wennbo, Baldwin Park, Calif., and numberous nieces and nephews. A stepbrother, Harry Whitman, died in 1956; a sister, Mabel VonAch, in 1974; his father in 1937, and his mother in 1956.

Services at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Au. 9, in Long-Klontz Funeral Home, 428 Park Ave. Burial in Owen Center Cemetery.
