Born in Franklin Co,MA. Dr. McClellan was the grandson of Col. Hugh McClellan, a Revolutionary War soldier. McClellan moved his wife and six children east to Wisconsin in 1845, first settling in Randall and Wilmot before finally settling in Kenosha. He was the third president of the Kenosha Co. Ag Society from 1851 to 1854 and was superintendent of schools before the county system was established.
