Came down the Connecticut River with three of his brothers before he married. All were shoe makers. He married Betsey Newhall Dec. 25, 1841 and together they raised 8 children. Their children by birth order are; Mary Elizabeth, Emma Augusta, Susan Alice, Sarah Evaline, Charles Franklin, Sophia Cutter, and Clara "Carrie" Waters Abbott. Nathaniel died of old age and acute gastritis (death cert). His parents are Nathaniel Abbott and Mary Hurd.
