THE PASSING OF ANOTHER PIONEER.
Beregetta Sporboe Died at Her Home in Scott Township Sunday Morning.

Mrs. Bergetta Sparboe, mother of H.M. Sparboe of this city and John and Carl Sparboe of Scott township, died at her home in Scott township, Sunday morning, at the age of nearly 86 years, of pneumonia. Another son, the youngest of the family, died some eighteen years ago. The deceased had been in poor health a long time, having been confined to her bed the past five years. She came to this country with her children some forty years ago the oldest of whom was ten years of age, her husband having died in Norway three years before. She located in Scott township and there reared her family, experiencing the hardships usual in a new country. In the early days she was always ready to assist those in distress and whenever there was sickness in the neighborhood she always responded with what aid she could render. The people of the community where she lived so long and so usefully esteemed her highly and everything possible was done for her during her long helplessness, a nurse having cared for her the past five years. A sister, Miss Estina Karolason, lived with her and survived. She lived upon her own eighty acre farm near that of her son, John Sparboe, having lived in that immediate vicinity ever since coming to America forty years ago. Two of her brothers resided many years at Story City, but they passed away several years ago.
The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock from the Branjord church inScott township.
