Foreman of wagon shop for Daniel Shaw Lumber co. of Eau Claire. Came to WI. in 1851, Columbus. Graduated Columbus College Institute 1856 and worked several years as book keeper and salesman. Dec. 1861 enlisted 19th Wi. Vol Inf. and served nearly 4 years. Was a hospital steward at the end of his service. Married at Wonewoc Wi. July 4 1861 to Lizzie Apkar a native of Pa. 5 children, Rose E. (Mrs. Otis Kelly of Mn.), Elva J., Winnie (Mrs. George Herbst), Minnie and Herbert J.
His father Andrew Kyle was a blacksmith living with the family in 1880 in Wi.
