Dec. 1861 enlisted 19th Wi. Vol Inf. and served nearly 4 years. Was a hospital steward at the end of his service. Married at Wonewoc Wi. July 4 1861 to Lizzie Apkar a native of Pa. 5 children, Rose E. (Mrs. Otis Kelly of Mn.), Elva J., Winnie (Mrs. George Herbst), Minnie and Herbert J.
His father Andrew Kyle was a blacksmith living with the family in 1880 in Wi.
