Harvey Finnerud, 82, died on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, June 14, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Mary Gilthvedt officiating. Burial will be in Valle Cemetery, Grygla, MN

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Sunday.

Harvey Telford Finnerud was born on December 25, 1926 in Grygla, MN, the son of Henry and Josephine (Jorgenson) Finnerud. He was baptized at Valle Lutheran Church and attended Benville Country School in Beltrami County, near Grygla. Harvey worked as a mechanic for Forkenbrock Motors and Tunberg Motors in Thief River Falls, MN and Marvin Windows in Warroad, MN. He also worked for several farms in the area.

Harvey was united in marriage to Mary Glover on October 20, 1970 in Karlstad, MN. For the first 10 years of their marriage, they lived in the Grygla and Wannaska areas. The couple moved to South Carolina in 1980 where he worked for a roofing company. Mary died in 2002 and he moved back to Thief River Falls and lived with his sister, Grace. He entered Thief River Care Center in March of 2009.

He loved spending time with his family and friends. Harvey's passion was repairing and refurbishing cars. He also liked auction sales, dining out and taking drives in the country. He enjoyed his morning coffee buddies at Dee’s Kitchen.

Harvey is survived by his sisters, Grace Littlefield of Thief River Falls, MN and Mary (Erling) Lian of Thief River Falls, MN; two step sons, Kenneth Glover and Mike Glover, both of South Carolina; two step grandchildren, Justin Glover and Joel Glover; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary in 2002; his parents; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Finnerud and Mr. and Mrs. John Jorgenson; sisters, Alice Meyer and Baby Finnerud; brothers, Willard and Truman.
