Boutwell – William "Danny" Jerry Boutwell, age 70, of Glen St. Mary, Florida passed away February 17, 2014 at Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital. Danny was born in Beaumont, Mississippi on November 6, 1943 to Leola Elaine Jordan Boutwell and the late William Jerry Boutwell, Sr. He has been a resident of Baker County since 1967 where he became a member of the First United Methodist Church. Danny earned a Master's Degree which helped with his career goals of being a teacher and later a Principal. He had a passion of education. Danny retired from the Baker County School System after many years of dedicated service. His career began in 1979 where he served as a Physical Education Coach and D.C.T. Teacher until 1984. From 1985 to 1993 he served as the Principal of the Baker County High School where he had the opportunity of being the Principal of the newly built High School in 1989. He also had a passion for helping young adults grow in their athletic abilities by coaching the High School Basketball Team for many years. Danny enjoyed playing golf, helping others, and most of all spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father, William Jerry Boutwell, Sr.
Danny is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Susan Boutwell of Glen St. Mary, FL; his mother, Leola E. Boutwell of Richton, MS; his daughters, Shelly Rhoden of Macclenny, FL; and Danna (Jim) Karkazis of Chicago, IL; his brother, Allen (Cynthia) Boutwell of Beaumont, MS; his sister, Brenda (Robby) Carr of Houston, TX; and his grandchildren, Jillian Hodges, Jarren Hodges, Caroline Rhoden, Jordan and Stellen Karkazis.
Funeral services will be held on Friday February 21, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Christian Fellowship Temple with Pastor David Thomas officiating. Interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at the church. The arrangements are under the care and direction of V.
