Charles was the first husband of Charity (Dye) Brandon and the son of Levi and Martha (Alexander) Brandon

Charles' obituary: Charles Brandon, a highly respected teacher in the Linton schools, died at his home in Linton last Sunday. of blood poisoning, brought about by pulling a tooth. The remains were taken to Owensburg Monday and laid away to rest. Charley was loved by all who knew him. He was a very promising young man of high hopes, fine intellect and a loving heart. He leaves an exemplary wife, one small child and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his untimely departure. The News extends condolence. Bloomfield News, April 20, 1894.

In 1870, Charles was 7 months old and lived in Jackson Township, Greene County, Indiana, with his father, Levi Brandon 42, mother Martha H Brandon 37, and siblings: John W Brandon 8, William E Brandon 6, and Cyrus A Brandon 3. The 1870 census lists Levi as being a carpenter. Levi was born in North Carolina. Martha was born in Indiana as all of Levi and Martha's children were. When the 1870 Census was taken, Mary Goens, 14 years old, was living with the Brandon family. I don't know what her connection was to the family.

Charles (Charley) was almost 23 when he and Chat were married. They were married 1 year and 7 months when he died. Charles was almost 25 when he died.

Charles and Charity had a daughter. Ruth (Brandon) Hert, January 15, 1894-1926, and she is buried at Lebanon Cemetery, Midland, Greene County Indiana, Find A Grave Memorial# 17380042. She would have been 3 months old when her father died.

Charles was a brother to Mildred (Brandon) Hudson's father, William Ellis Brandon. Mildred was the mother of Morris Lee Hudson
