Roberta Louise (Black) Candler was born on September 3, 1926 in Athens, Limestone County, Alabama, and she was the daughter of William Alexander Black (1889–1981) and his 2nd wife Norma Dell (Shockley) Black (1898–1991).
She was married in 1946 to Charles Carroll Candler (1921–1997), and he was the son of Vulan Oscar Candler (1885–1960) and his wife Laura Ann (Sellers) Candler (1889–1988).
A member of Charlotte Heights Church of Christ, Roberta retired from Saint Thomas Hospital after 31 years of service. Living in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee, Roberta was 87 years old when she passed away on April 29, 2014.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters Emma "Ilean" (Black) Broadway, Mary Lou (Black) Roberts and Ruby Black and by her brother William Black. Survivors include a married daughter, a son, married brother, sister and six grandchildren.
Burial was in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Nashville.
