Nordelle Edith Ashorn was born on November 16, 1928, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Raymond Bernard Ashorn and Mildred Louise Hoover. Her arrival into the world coincided with the passing of her great-grandmother, Mary Jane Frances Moody, just three days prior. Nordelle was baptized in the Catholic faith on December 2, 1928.

Growing up, Nordelle faced significant challenges, as her father struggled with alcoholism and abusive behavior, often leaving her mother, Mildred, to shoulder the responsibility of raising Nordelle and her younger brother, Raymond Ashorn. The family unit fractured further when her parents divorced in 1946.

On January 23, 1945, at Christ Gospel Church in Covington, Kentucky, Nordelle entered into marriage with Robert Murrill Jarrett. Their union was marked by the birth of six children, comprising three sons and three daughters. However, Nordelle endured immense hardship within the marriage, as Robert's alcoholism and abusive conduct, including infidelity, cast a shadow over their family life. Eventually, Nordelle summoned the courage to leave the tumultuous relationship around 1957.

During this period of transition, Nordelle crossed paths with Henry Clavis Farmer, marking the beginning of a new chapter in her life. She was divorced from her first husband in October 1969. On November 6, 1970, in Newport, Kentucky, Nordelle and Henry formalized their relationship in marriage. They later reaffirmed their commitment with a second ceremony at St. George Church in July 1975.

Throughout her life, Nordelle battled health issues, grappling with diabetes and heart-related ailments. Tragically, her health took a sudden turn when she suffered a heart attack while walking down the street. She was swiftly transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where she passed away on August 16, 1996, just two weeks before her son, Richard.
