Obituary for Mr. Larry Jackson Crews
Crews – Larry Jackson Crews, age 65, of Lake Asbury, Florida passed away on May 28, 2014 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA with family by his side. He was born in Jacksonville, FL on September 28, 1948 to the late Rudolph Crews and Iris Prevatt Crews Burnsed. Larry was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL where he graduated from Paxon High School in 1967. After high school, he attended Florida Junior College for 1 year and then enlisted in the United States Army. Larry served his country proudly as a Switchboard Operator in the White House from 1968 to 1971. During his service, he had the opportunity to travel with the President as a member of the White House Communications Agency. On October 11, 1969, Larry married the love of his life, Patricia Gordon. After his service in the Army, Larry went back to Florida Junior College and earned his Associates Degree. He found his career shortly after school at the United States Postal Service. Larry and Patricia raised their sons in Jacksonville, FL. He loved his family and enjoyed watching his sons grow and play soccer and football. After 34 dedicated years as a Postal worker, Larry retired from USPS. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, frying fish, cooking, and camping. He was of the Baptist faith, was an avid Gator fan and an avid NASCAR fan. Larry was known by many as "Bubbie". He loved his grandchildren dearly. He taught them to fish and enjoyed watching their baseball games. Larry was very proud of his sons and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his step father, Willard Burnsed.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Patricia "Patsy" Crews of Lake Asbury, FL; his sons, Larry Jackson Crews, Jr. of Lake Asbury, FL and Brian Albert (Jessie) Crews of Middleburg, FL; his brothers, Jerry (Brenda) Crews and Wendell (Jennifer) Crews both of Glen St. Mary, FL, and Roger (Paula) Crews of Jacksonville, FL; his sister, Glenda Faye (Roger) Raulerson of Sanderson, FL; his step brother, Jimmy (Dian) Burnsed of Jacksonville, FL; his step sister, Myrtle Mae Stout of Virginia Beach, VA; and his 3 grandchildren, Austin Crews, 10 years old, and Kyle and Morgan Crews both 8 years old.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 12:30 pm at V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services with Elder David Crawford officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The arrangements are under the care and direction of V. TODD FERREIRA FUNERAL SERVICES, 250 North Lowder Street, Macclenny, FL 32063 (904)259-5700.
