6th Battalion, Duke of Wellington's (West Riding Regiment)
Lived at Milton House, Gargrave. In civilian life was a General Manager of the Belle Vue Mills of the English Sewing Cotton Company of Skipton. He died at his residence on the 4th May 1915.
At the outbreak of war he relinquished is position to take up his military duties, he had previously held a commision in the 6th Battalion Manchester Regiment, with which he saw military service in South Africa.He was Gazetted Captain in the first reserve battalion of the 6th Duke of Wellington's (West Riding Regiment)and remained at HQ until they went to Derby.whilst stationed at Doncaster he was appointed Adjutant to the Battalion, shortly afterwards he was compelled to return Home on sick leave and died.∼http://www.ww1.manchester.ac.uk/roll-of-honour/godfrey-henry-ermen/
