Genealogy Notes: "Anderson, William Argyle Section A Lot 185 William A. ""Bill"" Anderson, age 90, of Washington CH, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 4:10 a.m. at his home. He was born on April 1, 1918 in Barnesville, Ohio to William W. and Jessie Evans Anderson. He spent most of his life in both the Dayton and Washington CH area. He graduated from Barnesville High School and Bowling Green University with a degree in business administration. He had worked at NCR for many years and retired in 1988 from the Grace United Methodist Church where he worked as a custodian. Bill was a US Army WWII veteran where he served in the Aleutian Islands where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the VFW Post #3762, The DAV, Fayette Co. Chapter #89, where he served as the Adjutant, the Civilian Conservation Corp (known as 3-C Camp) and the commission on Aging where he enjoyed playing pool.He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Pattie Dow and three sisters. Survivors include hiw wife Mary Anderson, whom he married on November 27, 1978; children Connie (Bob) Elliott, Jim (Phyllis) Anderson both of Washington CH, Steve Anderson and special friend Angie Campbell of Hillsboro and Peggy Barnes of Columbus; grandchildren Jimmy and Donnie Anderson, Henry and Audrey Barnes and Dr. Laura Elliott; great-grandchildren Christopher ""C.J."" Anderson, Bryce, Garth and Hannah Anderson. Also surviving is the mother of their children, Virginia Anderson of Washington C.H. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church with Pastor Ron Dodds and Dwyane Woodard officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Friends may call at the Summers Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and again at the church on Wednesday from noon until the time of the service.Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Fayette County, PO Box 849, Washington CH, OH 43160.
