Madge Claudine Cross, age 92, of Maryville, died Feb. 26, 2006 in Asbury Place Nursing Home in Maryville. She was born in Rhea County on Feb. 10, 1914, one of ten children to the late Charlie Harrison and Sally Samanthabell (Turner) Brooks. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Cross, and her infant son Donald Dwight Cross. Madge lived in Rockwood until 1996 when she moved to Knoxville. She was a homemaker and loved camping and listening to gospel music at Dollywood. Madge was a member of Dayton Church of God. She is survived by her daughter, Weja Walker and son-in-law Steve Speed; a grandson, Kenneth "Rocky" and grand-daughter-in law Cindy Walker, and her great-granddaughter, Cierra Walker all of Maryville; her brother, Carl Lewis Brooks of Mt. Juliet; and a sister, Dorothy Chapman of Knoxville. Funeral Services for Madge were held Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jewell Travis and Rev. Warren Beavers officiating. Graveside service will be Wednesday at noon in Rhea Memory Gardens. The family is being served by Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton where they received friends Tuesday, 5-8pm.
