DONALD CARL WILLIAMS was born on October 22, 1935, in Youngstown, Ohio, to the late James and Viola Hairston Williams. He was the third of seven siblings and was preceded to Glory by his sister, Edna Gibson.
"D.C.", as he was known, received his formal education in the Youngstown, Ohio school system, where he was given the nickname of "Pepsi" because of his love for Pepsi Cola. He was a star football player, but due to a football injury, he was unable to accept a college football scholarship. After graduating from high school, "D.C." joined his family in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He later enlisted in the United States Military, where he served as a military police officer, until his Honorable Discharge.
"D.C." became a member of the Philadelphia Police Department and served diligently as one of Philadelphia's "Finest." He trained and graduated with the first class of the Philadelphia Mounted Police Patrol, in 1972. "D.C." was very dedicated and took a great deal of pride in his police career, until his retirement.
He was employed by Graduate Hospital and was currently an employee of Glaxo-Smith-Kline, in King of Prussia, until his demise.
He was filled with love for his entire family and took much pride in his nieces, world entertainers, Sister Sledge.
God prepared a special place for "D.C." and on Friday, May 27, 2005, He lovingly reached down and peacefully took His child home.
