On January 18, 2014 Verna and Stanley Sopotnick celebrated an anniversary. For 73 years they worked, worshiped, enjoyed life and raised their family together. They were truly inseparable and so in death as in life one was never far behind the other. On September 20 Stanley was welcomed home by his Heavenly Father. On Sunday September 21 (approximately 15 hours later) Verna was lifted gently in the arms of the angels to be welcomed by her Heavenly Father and also her beloved husband.

Stanley 96, was preceded in death by his parents Valentine and Frances Sopotnick, two brothers, Frank and Rudy, two sisters Fanny and Jenny. He has one remaining sister, Stella, of Oregon State.

Verna 93, was preceded in death by her husband Stanley, her parents Charles and Catherine Butler. She was the last sibling of a family of seventeen children.

Stanley and Verna are survived by daughters Lois Haines (Craig), Richmond, VA and Beverly Anderson (Lynn), Gibsonia, PA, grandchildren Jimmy Shaffer, Chris Shaffer Richmond, VA, Jenna Inns (Sloan), Grand Rapids, MI and great granddaughter Emily.
Completing the family is a host of other relatives including a very devoted niece Karen Sink. The time she spent with her aunt and uncle during their last months is sincerely appreciated.

A celebration of Verna and Stanley's life will be held on Saturday, September 27th, at the Homer City Nazarene Church. The family will receive friends from 10AM until 11:30 in the chapel. A service will follow immediately at 11:30. Burial at Oakland Cemetery.
