Lieutenant-Colonel with the 39th Georgia Infantry and he was captured at Vicksburg, Mississippi, July 4, 1863. He was then paroled July 8th and eventually survived the war. His wife's Matilda. His five brothers also served as officers in the Confederate army, only two of whom survived the war.
