Anthony J. Lore, a retiree from Acheson Graphite Division of Union Carbide Corp., died Friday in ElderWood Healthcare at Crestwood, Wheatfield, after a lengthy illness. He was 76.
Mr. Lore was born on March 9, 1929 in Niagara Falls, the son of the late Dominick and Josephine (Caliguire) Lore. He graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1948.
He had several jobs in his teen years. His favorites were as a caddy at Niagara Falls Country Club and as a movie projectionist in the Hippodrome Theater.
Mr. Lore served in the National Guard during the 1940s.
He was a quality control inspector at Acheson Graphite for 25 years, retiring in the mid-1970s.
Mr. Lore played the accordion and piano as a young man. He read voraciously, mostly history and biography. He enjoyed traveling to visit his children and grandchildren and cruising Pine Avenue when he was in town.
Survivors include his wife, the former Rose E. Morganti; two daughters, Denise M. DeSimone of Colonial Heights, Va., and Joanne (Michael) Grant of Howe, Texas; a son, Charles (Satomi) Lore of New York City; a brother, Gerald (Pat) Lore of Baltimore; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 27th Street and Independence Avenue.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
