James Thompson Bailey was the son of Col John L Bailey and Elizabeth Mitchell Bailey. He was the Grandson of Judge James Payne Mitchell. He married Fanny Carr Bailey.

PROMINENT CITIZEN PASSES AWAY
J. THOMPSON BAILEY, OF McBRAYER, DIES THIS MORNING OF BRIGHT'S DISEASE FUNERAL TOMORROW
Mr. J. Thompson Bailey is dead. His death occurred at his late home near McBrayer, in Anderson ounty at an early hour this (Tuesday) morning. His death followed a lingering illness and resulted from Bright's disease and other complications.
Mr. Bailey was for many years a resident of the Mitchellsburg community. He served this county as Deputy Sheriff and later as Sheriff. He was a faithful and efficient official.
For many years Mr. Bailey had been in the revenue service, where he continued to rank at the top as an official.
Mr. Bailey left this county many years ago, locating in Anderson county. It was in that county he woed and won for a wife the pretty and accomplished Miss Fannie Carr. To this union one son was born. Mr. Bailey was in his seventy-second year. He is widely connected in Boyle County with the best people on earth. He is survived by his widow, one son, Mr. Mitchell Bailey; three sisters; Mrs.. Susan Briscoe, of Parksville; Mrs. Jeffie Ledman Fisher, of Milroy, Indiana; and Mrs. Sallie Caspari, of Indianapolis, Indiana. The late Mr. J. Mitchell Bailey, was a brother.
The funeral will be conducted at the late home near McBrayer tomorrow (Wednesday) morning at 10:30 o'clock and interment will take place at Hebron, near his late home. The Messenger joins the legion of friends, in extending the deepest possible sympathy to those near and dear to him in these hours of dire distress.
