ODESSA George Edward "Eddie" Chandler, 61, from Odessa, Texas, was born July 1, 1953 in Abilene, Texas to Roy Don and Virgie Bernice Chandler. Eddie stepped into his eternal life with the Lord December 31, 2014.
There will be open visitation in Odessa will be on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Acres West Funeral Chapel from 1:00 to 9:00 pm and all day Monday. Visitation in Eastland, TX will be at Harmony Baptist Church on County Road 334 on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm.
Graveside services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Harpersville Cemetery near Breckenridge, Texas officiated by Erron Mercer.
Eddie had been in a coma for 26 years following a motorcycle accident in 1988. His sister, Barbara "Babs" Nance, was his caregiver for all that time. Eddie was a real fighter and a very strong man. Eddie was all about enjoying life. He was always up for a good practical joke or anything that would be fun. He loved making memories with his family. Eddie worked as a truck driver up until the accident. He was a hard worker who took good care of his family and loved his children very much. Eddie will be greatly missed.
Eddie is survived by one daughter: Sonia Mercer and husband Erron of Wheeler, Texas; three sons: Jerry Chandler and wife Velinda of Odessa, Texas, Philip Chandler and wife Amanda of Shamrock, Texas, and Vernon Ellis of Odessa, Texas; seven grandchildren; three sisters: Barbara Nance, Glenda Parshall and husband Ted, and Linda Edwards, all of Odessa, Texas; two brothers: Cole Chandler and wife Chrystal of Odessa, Texas and Roy Chandler of San Angelo, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Rebecca Chandler; father: Roy Don Chandler; mother: Virgie Bernice (Clary) Chandler; sister: Brenda Kay Kenney Brych; nephew: Roger Rogers; and nieces: Sandy Nance and Kaitlen Parker.
