Putnam County Herald

February 15, 1934

Mrs Fannie Bohannon Bartlett was born February 18, 1868, died February 7, 1934. She was married to James Bartlett March 2, 1890. They had one son, Lawrence, who died February 16, 1918.

Mrs Bartlett was a member of the Brown's Mill Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband; one daughter-in-law, Mrs Nancy Lou Bartlett; 2 grandsons, Lawrence and Clarence Bartlett; 2 brother, Campbell Bohannon and Stanton Bohannon.

She had been ill for some time, but recovered. She had been up and around the house, meeting with friends. She went to bed at 9:30 then around the family and told Mrs Brown, her nurse, that she thought her time had come and eased back into her pillows and passed away.

Mrs Bartlett was an unusual character; she went about her household duties keeping them in perfect order. As her friends passed and called she always met them at the door with a smile and a welcome and on their departure they would say come and spend the day with us soon.

Mrs Bartlett was a World War mother. Her only son, Lawrence, enlisted in the regular army in 1917 and died there while training in 1918.

Funeral services were conducted in the Dry Valley Church with burial in the cemetery there.
