Asmed Rites Held At
Ross Wednesday

Funeral services were held at Ross Wednesday for Alex Asmel, farmer in the county since 1928. He passed away at Wales Saturday, October 4, 1941.

Mr. Asmed dropped dead Saturday afternoon while herding sheep on his farm near Wales. He was found at about 4:00 o'clock that afternoon and County Coroner G. E. Stromberg was called. He reported that death was caused by a heart attack and that Mr. Asmed had probably died a few hours before he was found.

The deceased was born in Syria in 1888 and immigrated to the United States 31 years ago. After living in Minnesota and California previously he came to Calvin in 1928 and a year later moved to the Wales vicinity.

He had never married. Two brothers survive. They are Harry Asmel [FAG # 3502707] of Wales and another brother who still lives in Syria.
