After graduating from Woodstock Academy outside Baltimore, he worked for two years at the city's Kennedy Krieger Institute, where he worked with special needs children. He also taught gym in the city as a substitute teacher. He died in Al Taji, Iraq, with two other Maryland Guardsmen, when an 18-wheel tractor trailer accidentally struck the back of their Humvee, starting a fire and causing ammunition to detonate.
Interment on October 28, 2005.
