Burns, Jerome 'Jerry'. Dad's ride to the banquet table that has no end arrived for him at 12:02am on Tuesday, July 22, 2014. He was 88.
Preceded in death by his parents and 8 siblings,
Jerry was born and raised in N.E. Minneapolis.
Married for 65 years to Charline (Peterson).
Jerry was father to Thomas (Rennae), Jacqueline (Erast) Winiarczyk, Allan (Kurt Jensen), Scott (Laura) & Michael (Becky). Grandfather of 10, Katherine, John and Elizabeth Burns, Natalie, Jeremiah & Duane Winiarczyk, Bethany & Luther Burns and Liam & Devyn Burns. Great-grandfather of two, Anthony & Nicolas.
Jerry was a proud WWII, combat wounded, Purple Heart recipient veteran.
His love of life, family and humor exuded from every pore of his body.
Jerry worked as a Letter Carrier for US Postal Service for 34 years. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, Branch 9.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 26th at 11:00 am, with visitation 1hr prior to the service at Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church, 1509 27th Ave. NE in Minneapolis. A luncheon of his favorite foods will follow. Please join our family in a final tribute to this amazing man.
