Son of Henry Madison & Mary Mitchell Richardson. A farmer, he owned a large farm on the Cumberland River in Center Point, Monroe County, KY. He would buy local farmers' livestock and export them down the Cumberland River to resell. Operated the boat "HM Richardson" and imported & exported goods at "Richardson's Landing" on his Cumberland River farm located between the mouth of the Meshack Creek and the mouth of the Tooley Branch. Later moved to Tompkinsville and owned "M. Richardson Bottling Company." Married Minnie Gray and had 4 children: Pauline, Terry, Henry & Eveline.
