CPL Walter Guy Wicker Jr, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Siler City, North Carolina.

Corporal Walter Guy Wicker Jr was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army Selective Service, CPL Wicker served our country until October 14th, 1969 in Quang Ngai, South Vietnam. He was 20 years old and was married. It was reported that Walter died from multiple fragmentation wounds. His body was recovered. Walter was born on March 25th, 1949 in Siler City, North Carolina. CPL Wicker is on panel 17W, line 076 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for less than a year.

He is the Husband of Mrs Sheila A Wicker, 506th West 6th Street, Siler City, NC 27344.

He served as a Corporal with Bravo Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, 11th Infantry Brigade, Americal Division, USARV.

He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Bronze Star Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster, The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Army Commendation Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal.
