Helen was the first of two children of Leo Paquin & Bertha Whiteley Paquin. Helen was a direct descendant of Daniel Boone and she and her mother were members of a 'Daughters of the Pioneers of Washington' group. Helen served in 'SPARS' with the U.S. Coast Guard. She and her husband Ralph Shallenburger had a home near Berkeley California that overlooked San Francisco Bay. She was a creative person, and enjoyed cooking, knitting and doing art. She worked as a book keeper. She & Ralph had no children. After her husband died, she moved back to Walla Walla.
