Edward A. Dau died Wednesday, Aug, 13, 2003, at his home in Lewiston. He was 84.
Ed was born Jan. 8, 1919, in Tammany to John and Maria Schatz Dau. He attended Tammany School through the 11th grade and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1935 and from Kinman Business College in Spokane in 1937.
After being employed by Washington Water Power, he served in the U. S. Air Force for three years.
He married Louise Tucker in Clarkston May 26, 1946. They lived in Grangeville for a year, returned to Clarkston in 1947 and moved to Lewiston Orchards in 1950. He was employed as a bookkeeper for local businesses. Ed and Louise lived from 1967 until 1982 in Anchorage, Alaska, where he was an accountant for construction firms. He retired in 1981, and in 1982 they returned to Lewiston.
Ed was an active member of the Lewiston First United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. Golf was his favorite activity, and he worked for many years with the Volunteer Tax Assistance Program.
He is survived by his wife, Louise; [two] daughters; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Dora McIntosh of Lewiston; and one brother, Fred Dau of Seattle.
Two sisters [Mary and Ann] and one brother [George] died previously.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Lewiston First United Methodist Church.
