Youngest son of John Henry and Mildred Terrell Satterwhite White of Elbert County, Georgia and Panola County, Mississippi, Charles moved to Gonzales County, Texas with his mother, step father (Fleming Littlefield), and several siblings about 1851. Charles never married, and also had some mental health difficulties. According to researcher David B. Gracy, Charles left for Philadephia sometime in 1860, accompanied by a local physician. He received treatment in that city, and was located there for the duration of the Civil War. Upon his death in 1866, he was buried at Laurel Hill.
