Albert A. "Al" Cross passed away Monday, May 4, 2015. Memorial service: 10 a.m. Monday, May 11, at Moore Bowen Funeral Home. Inurnment: Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Al was born in Kansas City, Mo., in 1931. He earned his BA at Westminster College and his MS at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kan. He served in the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served as an educator, coach and sports official and was an accomplished businessman. Al held positions with TWA, Braniff International Airways and retired as executive director of continuing medical education at UNT Health Science Center. He taught as an adjunct professor in the graduate schools at Rockhurst, Park and Webster colleges. Upon his 50th anniversary from graduation from Westminster College, he was honored as the recipient of the Alumni Achievement Award. He was a member of Kappa Alpha, Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite and VFW. He served in leadership roles with numerous community and charitable organizations. He served as president of the TWA Management Club. His greatest enjoyment was his family, his dogs, RVing, helping others and throwing golf clubs. Al was preceded in death by his mother, Adaline Cross; father, Jess Cross; brothers, Bill and Jim Cross; first wife, Sally Cross; and son, Michael Cross. Survivors: His wife and best pal, Carolyn; daughters, Kathryn Whittle and Lauren Moore; daughter-in-law, Ivy Cross; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
