Oscar's oldest child, his son Kenneth Oscar Campion, became an officer and pilot in the United States Marine Corps. He was was reported as missing in action during the Battle of Midway on June 4, 1942 and was later declared as killed in action. Lt. Campion was awarded the Navy Cross for heroism, posthumously. His body was never recovered and lost at sea.
