Louise was a teacher in a one room school house for 2 years, and a Jr. High teacher for 3 years in Missouri before moving to WaKeeney. While living in WaKeeney, she worked at the hospital in the office, doing Medicare, Medicaid and Private Insurances for 23 years, until her retirement.
She was always very involved with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities such as church activities, boy and girl scouts, 4-H. She enjoyed working with people and was involved in the community. For Louise, life was an adventure to be lived at its fullness. She enjoyed writing letters and sending cards for holidays and birthdays to family and friends. She was inducted into the Lew Walter Chapter of the DAR on November 1, 2014 by her daughter-in-law. Louise had always been interested in her family history, and could talk for hours about the history which had been passed down to her from other family members. One of her greatest adventures was the trip with her son Mike, her daughter-in-law Patricia and niece Stephanie to England and Scotland. While there, she got to visit the McLeod Castle on the Isle of the Sky, and the church that her Burner ancestors had built in 1166.
Louise is survived by a son, four daughters, eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; daughter, Russella “Rusty”; infant son, Rance; grandson, Shane; brothers, Eugene and Olin; sisters, Kay and Darlene; son-in-law, Douglas; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
Burial will be in the WaKeeney City Cemetery.
