Nan Jean Cheperka Age 89, passed away Sunday July 20, 2014 surrounded by her loving family at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, Illinois. Nan was born on October 2, 1924 in Elgin, Illinois to the loving union of Glenn and Doris Morton.

Nan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always put family first. She was a life-long resident of Elgin, Illinois. She volunteered for more than 25 years at Sherman Hospital, helping with patients and working at the gift shop. Nan loved to travel the world with her husband until his death. She then began the tradition of an annual trip to Las Vegas, where she had a great time playing the dollar slots. Nan enjoyed bowling every league night for over 79 years, playing in multiple leagues for much of her life at the Elgin Lanes. She never bowled a perfect game, but that didn’t stop her from trying. Nan loved to spend her summer days out by the family pool soaking up the sun’s rays and drinking her strawberry margarita. She was not much of a cook, but she did love to eat her daughter in-law’s food.
She is survived by her sons Donald (Lori), Michael (Kathy), Ronald Cheperka, her bother Bill Morton, and many grand- and great-grandchildren.
She proceeded in death by her husband Donald and sister Phyllis Arnold.
Visitation will be Thursday July 24, 2014 starting at 9:00 am til time of service at 11:00 am. Services will be at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street Elgin, IL 60120. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
