Mr. Othel Rance Barrow, age 80, of Bowdon, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2015. He was born March 7, 1935 in Haralson County, the son of the late Reedie O. Barrow and the late Mable Barrow Bachelor. He attended Roopville High School and served four years in the United States Air Force. After thirty two years of service, he retired from Houghton Internal Chemical Company. He loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and served as a Deacon in Baptist Churches for twenty-five years. He was an avid sports fan, loved wood working, gardening, and trips to the Smokie Mountains. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Durell Barrow; step father, Johnny Bachelor, and step brother, Cole Bachelor. He is survived by his wife of fifty five years, Parnelle Word Barrow; one son and daughter-in-law, Grant and Courtney Barrow; and one grandson, Shane Smith; all of Bowdon, Georgia; two sisters and brother-in-law: Willa Dean (Horace) Wilson and Carolyn Laney, all of Carrollton; a number of nieces and nephews, and his canine buddy, Alfie. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Randall Eidson, Bro. Denver Chandler and Rev. Wayne Brown officiating. Those serving as pallbearers will be Brian Word, Brandon Word, Danny Laney, Darin Laney, Ellis Skinner, Mark Wilson, John Morgan, and Doyal Shirey. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Brooks, Ricky Shiflett, Leonard Almon, Connie Patterson, Rommie Arrington, Monte Gometz, Davis Kent, Mack Morris, Johnny Morgan, and Donald Wilson. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The American Legion Post #143 will close the interment service with the flag presentation.
