Cecil L. Bentley, age 79, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2015, at the Holzer Medical Center ER in Jackson, Ohio. He was born March 9, 1936 in Letcher County, Kentucky to the late Martin Bentley and Nannie Elizabeth Meade Bentley. Cecil was a retired construction worker, having been formerly employed by Kodiak Construction. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and going camping. Cecil is survived by his wife, Barbara Stapleton Davis Bentley; children, Cecilia Nichols (Mark) of Thurman, Pam McPherson (Benson) of Wellston, Marty Bentley (Cindy) of Jackson, Mary Crabtree (Joey) of Wellston, Barbara Thomas of Las Vegas, Malchom Davis (Denise) of Jackson and Johnny Davis (Teresa) of West Virginia; sisters, Morene Wright of Wellston, Ollie Scott (Don) of Tennessee, Mabel Webb of Ashland, Kentucky and Marie Poplin of South Shore, Kentucky, as well as 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, including special nephews whom he raised, Martin Webb and Brian Webb.
Besides his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by brothers, Elbert Bentley and Willie Bentley; sisters, Opal Sexton, Edna Grimes, Imogene Davis, Jewell Linzon, Eura Fox, Nannie Horsley and Delores Campbell; and special nephew, Arvy Webb. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 8 P.M. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Monday at 1 P.M. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Travis Potts officiating. Burial will follow in the Bentley Cemetery.
