Kenneth Roy "Kenny" Price was born to his loving caring parents William M. J. "Will" and Laura Belle (Phillippi) Price on Friday April 19, 1918 at rural Fremont, Dodge County Nebraska. Ken was the youngest of five siblings. I found no information on Ken's childhood or schooling. The 1935 US Census listed Ken employed as a salesman. Ken was united in marriage to Geraldine Ladehoff on Friday October 2, 1942 at Fremont, they were blessed with one daughter over the years of their marriage. Ken served in the US Army Air Force (AAC) from November 6, 1942 to December 4, 1945 during World War II. Ken and Gerri purchased the Ames Grocery Store in 1947, operating the Ames Post Office in the front right area of the store, he served as postmaster from 1951 to 1977. I believe Ken and his family lived in the back area of the building. Ames was located on a highway thirty jog, if you had blinked your eyes, you could almost have missed it. Ames back in the early sixties had a grain elevator, a church, an elementary school, maybe ten houses, a gas station, and of course the local tavern. Sadly Ken passed on Saturday January 27, 2007 at the Fremont Area Medical Center at the age of 88 years, 9 months, 8 days which does not include his last day, he lived a total of 32,425 days. A military graveside service was conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of VFW Post 854 and American Legion Post 20 on Friday February 9, 2007 at 1:30p. A memorial service followed at 2p at the Moser Memorial Chapel at Fremont with Pastor Tom Nevis and John Weir officiating. Ken was laid to rest in section f, lot 36, grave 1 of the Memorial Cemetery at Fremont. Ken's information was provided from researching many resources and my memory. This biography was created as an honor to Ken by his wife's fifties elementary student Loren R. I believe all lives matter, even the lives of those who have passed. Many details are still missing from his life, if you have any more details I will be happy to edit the additional information into this biography.
