Wayne Flinner, 87, of Berlin, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2015, after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Millersburg Baptist Church, with Pastor Greg Lonsway officiating. Burial will be in Berlin Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Killbuck VFW.

Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, or one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday. Those wishing to share memories or make online condolences may do so by visiting www.alexanderfhinc.com.

Family suggests memorial contributions be made to LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Road, Wooster 4691.

He was born Sept. 7, 1927, in Berlin, the son of John and Ida (Hershberger) Flinner, and married Beverly Sutherland on July 3, 1949. She preceded him in death on May 3, 1982. He later married Maxine Miller on Aug. 14, 1983. She survives.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II, serving in the Philippines, and retired after working 40 years for Timken of Wooster.

He attended Millersburg Baptist Church, and enjoyed fishing and loved playing and listening to music. He was a member of the Pop Farver Band, where he played guitar.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Maxine, are sons, Richard (Kim) Flinner, Randy (Jane) Flinner and Barry (Rebecca) Flinner, all of Millersburg; a stepdaughter, Denise (Ron) Birt of West Union; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Darrell and Carl Flinner; sisters, Vera Larimore and Grace Flinner; and a grandson, Barry Allen Jr.
