GRAPEVINE - Leon L. "Pops" Ward, 85, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at a hospital in Grapevine.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at Lucas Grapevine Chapel. Burial: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville.

Leon L. "Pops" Ward was born Jan. 14, 1914, in Coalgate, Okla. He was a longtime Grapevine resident. He was a retired dairyman and roofing contractor and a member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church of Keller.

He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a cherished friend to many. He was loved by his family and will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Sarah Alice Bray, and two sons, Leon and Randall Ward.

Survivors: Son, Rafael and Edith Ward of Hurst; daughter, Anita and Gene Brown of Roanoke; sister, Nell Shafer of Grapevine; grandchildren, Randall Ward and his wife, Linda of Arlington, Sharon Walker and her husband, David, of Leonard and Bronwyn Williams and her husband, George, of Roanoke; great-grandchildren, Lyndsie, Kelsie and Kyle Graves and Kody Williams, all of Roanoke, Cole and Nathan Ward of Arlington, and Ian Ward of Cleburne; and numerous nieces and nephews.
