Bessie M. Abernathy
Funeral service for Bessie Mae Abernathy of Arnold will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Jimmie Dace will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
Abernathy, 91, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1993, at Woodland Manor in Arnold.
She was born July 7, 1902, in Dean, Ark., daughter of Wiley G. and Frankie A, Meurer Bowden. She and Roscoe Abernathy were married in 1944 in Cape Girardeau. He died Feb. 10, 1987.
Abernathy had worked at Brown Shoe Co. here. She was a former member of Maple Avenue United Methodist Church and Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include a sister, Gladys Hanebrink of St. Louis: two brothers, Warren Bowden of St. Louis, and Winford Bowden of New Jersey.
