Herbert Buchanan "Buck" Howard, 61, died of natural causes on Friday, September 11, 2015, at his home in Dallas. Buck was born February 16, 1954, in Dallas. After graduating from Highland Park High School and Baylor University, he finished his studies at Southwestern Graduate School of Banking. At the age of 29, Buck became the President of Sherry Lane National Bank and later the President and CEO of Memorial Bank in Edmond, OK. In 2001, he became CEO of Corporate Advisors, Inc. Buck was actively involved in Freemasonry and loved the craft passionately. He held many positions, including Master of the John L. DeGrazier Lodge and District Deputy Grand Master. As a member of the Valley of Dallas, Scottish Rite, he was conferred the 33° in 2013. He also served as the Personal Representative and Chairman of the Valley of Dallas. Buck was an Eagle Scout, a member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church, and an Advisory Trustee to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. Buck was a loyal friend and loving husband, father, son, and brother. Known for his honesty, integrity, and joyful spirit, he encouraged and mentored many. Deeply spiritual, he was a servant of the Lord. Buck is survived by his wife Katharine Glover Howard; son Andrew Wells Howard (Anna); step-children Blakeman (Megan), William (Rebekah), and Katharine Stowe; grandson David Andrew Howard; mother Martha M. Howard; and sisters Laura Denham, Martha Moore, and Carolyn Howard. A memorial service will be held at Park Cities Baptist Church, Dallas, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 18. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children or the Dr. Herbert R. and Martha M. Howard Center at the Logsdon Seminary of Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX. Arrangements under the direction of Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, Dallas, TX.
