Lena Pompeii Cox age 94 a lifelong Brockway resident, currently a resident at Christ the King Manor in DuBois, PA; died on Thursday July 8, 2021 at the Manor.

Born on January 1, 1927 in DuBois, she was the daughter of the late John and Irene Petruzzi Amitrone. On May 1, 1954 she was married to William D. Cox Sr. and he preceded her in death on March 23, 2018.

Retired, Lena had been employed at Brockway Glass as a Packer/Foreman for 45 years. She was a member at St. Tobias Church in Brockway where she served as a lector for many years. She was a member and was active at the Brockway Senior Center, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and sang in the Village Voices when her health permitted. She also enjoyed growing flowers, working on crafts and singing. The activity she enjoyed the most was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by 2 daughters: Rosanna (John) Gresak of Brockway; Ramona Anderson of Belleville, PA; and a son William D. (Barb) Cox Jr. of Clearfield, Pa; a sister Yola Nolan-Kohner of DuBois; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband she is also preceded in death by a daughter Sandra Dew; 3 sisters: Wanda Lankard, Lucille Fischer, Marilyn Torak and 4 brothers: Jimmy, Johnny, Angelo "Pitch" and Joseph Amitrone.

Calling hours will be on Sunday from 5PM to 8PM at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway and from 9AM until 10:00 AM Monday in the chapel at St. Tobias Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM with Msgr. Charles Kaza presiding. Burial will follow in St. Tobias Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Tobias Church 1135 Hewitt Street Brockway, PA 15824 or to the charity of the donors choice.

NOTE: The obituary is mistaken in her birth place. She was born at home in Brockway, Jefferson County, PA. Also, Sandra Dew is not her daughter but her step-daughter.
