MARY SNYDER

Mary Lea Sill Snyder (Nanny), age 74, of Joplin, passed away at 5:20 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2006. At St. John’s Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

Born March 20, 1932, in the Central City community near Joplin, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Mattie Bloyed Sill and was a lifetime area resident. A loving homemaker and mother, she loved to care for children. She was a Girl Scout Leader and Block Mother. For 10 years, she and her husband owned and operated Oakland Little Prep. For over 30 years she taught the Littlest Angels Sunday School Class at Central City Christian Church, where she had been a member for 74 years. Her family was among the church’s founding members. She also served as an election judge.

On March 24, 1950, she married Harold Raymond Snyder Sr. at Central City Christian Church. He survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Harold Raymond (Rusty) Snyder Jr. and wife, René, of Joplin; three daughters, Karen Wartick and husband, Duane, of Alba, Mo., Marcia Coffey and husband, Gary, of Baxter Springs, Kan., and Becky Snyder, of Joplin; two brothers, Carrol Sill and wife, Jayne, of Carl Junction and Johnny Sill, of the Central City community; two sisters, Norma Jeanne Matthews and husband, Harold, of Joplin and Audrey Halmrast and husband, Lester, of Centralia, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, Kyle Wartick, Jeremy Coffey, Jodée Beckham, Adam Wartick, Breanna Grove, Joshua Pollock, Dustin and Rebecca Campbell and Colbie and Ryun Snyder; five great-grandsons, Tyler, Cody, Finn, Beck and Zac; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, at Central City Christian Church with Johnny Adkins and Ed Hahn, ministers, officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Parker Mortuary.
