Marilyn Joanne Nelson was born July 5, 1944 in Burlington, Iowa to Melvin Arthur Nelson and Esther Rebecca (Pugh) Nelson. She lived and attended school at Glenwood State School. Marilyn lived in Orient and on a farm outside of Creston. Marilyn and her twin sister, Carolyn lived together for many years of their adult life on North Vine Street in Creston. She most recently resided at Crest Haven Care Centre. While living in Creston, she worked doing different jobs at Creston Nursing and Rehab Center, Crest Haven Care Centre, Innovative Industries, Inc. and cleaned for Creston residents. She enjoyed calling BINGO at local nursing homes, working at the Green Valley Park Concession stand, and cleaning jobs. She loved her dog Princess, spending time with her sister, and her special friend, Leo Schafer who often met her at the S & K Café after work, took her to HyVee and then home. Marilyn had a special friendship with Wilma Shearer for 50 years. She was an animal lover and avid sports fan with a special interest in all Hawkeye sports and Cornhusker football.

Survivors include one sister, Karen Davis of Cumberland, Maryland; her wonderful neighbors around north Vine Street; her favorite doctor, Dr. Chuck Hoyt of Creston; her C.A.R.E. family, nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her twin sister, Carolyn Nelson in July 2008; special friend, Leo Schafer and her special dog, Princess.
